Kseniia Shor is a German-Russian pianist whose artistic voice has been shaped by a wide range of musical traditions and international experience. Her playing is influenced by the Russian, German, Scandinavian and Spanish piano schools, combining expressive depth with clarity of structure and a rich sense of colour.
Born in Saint Petersburg, she received her early professional training at the N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov Music College before moving to Germany in 2018, where she studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. There she completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the piano classes of Markus Bellheim and Silke Avenhaus.
During her studies, she expanded her artistic perspective through exchange programmes at Musikene in San Sebastián with Marta Zabaleta and at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo with Håvard Gimse. These periods of study opened up different musical perspectives and continue to shape her approach to repertoire.
In her concert work, Kseniia is particularly interested in shaping programmes that combine well-known repertoire with less frequently performed or rediscovered works. She treats the recital as a dramaturgical space, where familiar pieces can be heard in new contexts and lesser-known voices gain equal presence.
Curious about music beyond the standard piano repertoire, she is active in chamber music and collaborative projects with both instrumentalists and vocalists. She studied Lied interpretation with Fritz Schwinghammer in Munich, which led to an ongoing collaboration with singers and a strong interest in vocal chamber music. She also performs in a variety of ensemble settings, including projects with woodwinds, which has further broadened her musical outlook beyond solo piano.
Her artistic work naturally extends into contemporary music, which she integrates into her programmes alongside established repertoire through collaborations and premieres with living composers.
Alongside her concert work, she is drawn to interdisciplinary formats that connect music with other art forms. Her projects include collaborations with dancers and multimedia programmes where visual art and music meet, such as performances inspired by the paintings and sound world of Claude Debussy. Through these projects, she aims to open up classical music to new audiences while keeping its artistic depth intact.
Kseniia has performed across Europe, including in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Norway, Spain, Slovenia, Israel and Russia.
Her achievements include the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung scholarship and prizes at several international competitions, among them the Vienna Classical Music Academy Competition, the Savshinsky Competition and the 4th Edition of the Piano Competition Online.
Through her work in solo, chamber and interdisciplinary projects, Kseniia Shor focuses on building connections between tradition and new artistic directions, and on expanding how classical music can be experienced today.
